Day 126 Negreira to Vilaserio another Rainy Day.

We decided yesterday that we aren’t walking in the rain anymore on this epic adventure. We are still trying to get over a mild cold and being soaked didn’t seem like the way to do it. So we took a cab. While it never is what we want we are happy with the adjustments that we have made throughout our journey.

We are staying in a 300 year old farm house. There are about 10 people staying here tonight. Lots of people came through for lunch. We have met pilgrims today from Ireland, Switzerland, US, Finland, Poland. Two women from the US Lori and Ruby had lunch with us and we thoroughly enjoyed sharing stories. They are from Indianapolis and have walked the Portuguese Camino.

Fireplace that you can climb in.

Tomorrow the weather is supposed to improve, though we heard from Mia, who is walking back to Santiago de Compostela that we will encounter two flooded areas because of all the rain. Always an adventure!! Splashing through the floods we will.

I think this fig tree might be 300 years old too. New trees growing everywhere.

We are so grateful to you for following and for those who continue to support our gofundme. if you are interested here is the link.

Day 125 SdC to Negreira the journey continues…

We started out this morning from Santiago de Compostela a little later than usual. We had an English Breakfast something Noël has been craving for weeks!! It was delicious!

We set out in the pouring rain. It has been raining for at least a week. Locals keep telling us this isn’t normal. Oh well.

We took turns leading the rain parade today; through the puddles, mud, over the eucalyptus leaves and bark, limbs downed by the weather. The wind added an element… every time we got under the trees hoping for a little relief the wind picked up and blew all the rain on us.

After 7 kms and soaked to the bone it was time to end the Rain parade. We called for a cab and made it to Negreira. It was another sensible decision. Some people may not understand this and that’s okay. We are happy with this decision and very humbled and happy about our amazing journey.

We will try the 13 kms tomorrow. But we know we have options. Monday the sun is supposed to shine again. Yay!!!!

Buen Camimo. Ultreia!!

Day 124 Lavacolla to Santiago de Compostela!!! Gratitude

I’m grateful for this adventure and for the opportunity to meet so many people and reconnect with people I have met before. Plus getting to meet in person people who have become friends through Facebook.

I’m grateful for all of you who have come along with us. Your comments, likes, text message, emails , phone calls have meant so much to us and inspired us to keep going!!

I’m grateful for all who have contributed to our gofundme. There are so many who are impacted by cancer and together we can beat it.

I’m grateful for the lessons I continue to learn as I walk this earth.

I’m grateful for you.

Buen Camino!!

Day 123 very tired long day lots of rain.

Due to the Spanish holiday there are no accommodations so we had to book 42 kms ahead. We took a taxi 20+ kms and walked in very wet conditions. found a pkCe where we have stayed before. Tia Teresa.

It was a good but long day. I’m having lots of emotions going into Santiago de Compostela tomorrow. More on that later.

We are with Uroš again. Leaving early in the morning to avoid the crowds.
