The last couple of weeks Terneuzen, Paalberg (Ermelo, NL), Terneuzen, next stop Remagen, Germany

Some of you have been asking where are we? My best answer is on the move.

Every two weeks we return to Ternuezen so Noël can get his allergy shots. If you have been following you might remember when he had an allergic reaction and his eyes were almost swollen shut. Well we found out he’s allergic to Birch trees. And there are a lot of Birch trees in Europe. We also get to see Lindsay and Mitchell and the grandpups and Noël’s children and his grandson.

We decided to hold off on the tent until there was less rain. It’s too hard to pack it and make sure it doesn’t get moldy. We found a nice camping place with a cottage at a super reasonable price. But due to some confusion and mistakes by the campsite they upgraded us to a bungalow for the same price. It was a super nice place. We had a few good walks and runs and swim. There is a nice restaurant open on the weekends during the winter season. The weather wasn’t great but we still enjoyed a very relaxing time.

Back in Terneuzen for appointments and hugs with lj and the pups. And off again!! This time Remagen, Germany.

Camping Le Pommier Rustique 2

We had a really good albeit cold day yesterday. We went I to Dinant and Ciney for errands and lunch. And saw some fun art.

It ended up being an early evening because of the cold and wind. We had our leftover lasagna and then climbed into bed around 5:30 to do some scrolling and then watch a show.

It’s interesting that bedtime in winter when camping is so early. Between the darkness and the chill it’s nice to just snuggle in even if you don’t go to sleep immediately.

So last night around 4:30 we heard someone/ something in the living room part of the tent. It is closed on the inside separating our sleeping space and it is closed on the outside. Although there is a bit of space at the bottom of the tent. So we woke hearing just the slightest noises and rattling. We just sat kind of frozen until the sounds went away. We opened carefully and noticed that the trash had been dumped. I of course couldn’t go back to sleep. We spoke to the supervisor and he said it could be a large black cat that they don’t know where it came from but can see it on camera or a raccoon. We think the latter because of the paw prints.

Don’t mind me. Just taking what you don’t want. So sorry for waking you up.😂😂😂

Oh and he took some paracetamol because I found it outside the tent. Must have had a headache 😂 But he didn’t eat the leftover pizza. Yeah, yeah. Lesson learned. We already said we are newbies. 😂

We made the decision yesterday to pack up camp this morning and stay in one of the pods. A big storm is coming in tomorrow and  packing up the tent in wind is one thing but packing up in rain and wind we didn’t want to do.

As we say…always learning, adapting and adjusting!!!

Camping le Pommier Rustique 1

We arrived yesterday in the snow. It was quite beautiful until we started setting up the tent and made a mud puddle.

We struggled a bit with the new tent but finally figured it out

We were kind of worn out by the time we finished that we each ate a half of a sandwich for our dinner. I was sound asleep by 9:00.

The path to the toilets was slippery, wet, muddy and cold. So we figured out a chamber pot in the extra space in the tent. Always learning to adapt and adjust.

Hope you all are well.

Camping Siesta Day 7

It was a dark and stormy night, seriously. The rain started around 9:30 and didn’t let up all night. Between the rain and the wind it was a bit of a restless night.

We both woke around 4 needing to relieve ourselves but it was impossible to get to the toilet without getting soaked and bring water and sand into the tent. But we couldn’t go back to sleep. So we got on our phones to distract ourselves. And we kept checking when there might be a break in the weather. Finally around 5 we had a chance and we took it.

As soon as we got back in the tent the bottom dropped!! Our little heater stopped working around 5. Noël was back asleep so i waited until he woke to tell him. We finally figured out around 8 it had to do with the campground connection.

It finally quit raining around 9 this morning, so we got busy trying to get everything in its place, pack up the wet tent, and dry the air mattresses. Because of the weather it took a little longer than we thought. But still finished just before the rain started again.

Yesterday we had a couple of nice walks. The weather was super.

Chicken tikki masala
Chicken noodle soup

We have learned so much and have already made some adjustments and will make a few more. One big learning if you buy cheap that’s what you will get. Stay tuned!!
