Day 24 reflections and observations

We have been very fortunate with accommodations. Last night and today are no exception!! We had a mostly relaxing morning starting out late and sitting in a cafe to plan the next few days. It’s been harder the past few days to find good accommodations with reasonable prices. But we are in champagne country. So today and tomorrow are only 9 kms each.

Some reflections and observations. We have been very tired the past few days and were wondering why? Then we thought about where we have been, the weather conditions (snow, ice, mud, cold temps and warmer temps), the distance (about 500 kms, which is about 2/3 of the Camino Frances. No wonder we are tired.

We also observed that the emotional and spiritual highs and lows are playing a big part as well. It’s interesting that we can realize the physical exhaustion but forget to acknowledge when we are mentally, emotionally or spiritually exhausted.

It’s so important to rest…rest your body, rest your mind, rest your spirit, rest your emotions. Resting your body might be the easiest of these to do, unless you are a workaholic then it’s a challenge. Learning to rest your mind, spirit, emotions has to be learned and it’s different for everyone. What are some ways that you rest your mind, spirit, and emotions?

So we are taking it a bit easier, stopping in every church we find open, lighting candles, saying a prayer, writing and sharing our experiences.

Thank you for coming along with us!!
