I will kid you not today was difficult. After yesterday slogging through the mud I was asleep by 8 pm. And had a restless night. We started on our way up out of town, by 8:30 and it was a a climb. We slipped through the mud and were blown about by the wind.
Google said it would be 16 kms. We are going back and forth between the official route and google. Some guessed 20-22 kms for the day. It was 22,2. We will have more after going to dinner.
Our stay last last was very comfortable and had an interesting story. It is being renovated by a very energetic man. It was the lodgings for the workers at the castle. The castle was demolished during the Second World War and the barracks went I to disrepair. Tonight’s stay is also awesome in Epernay. Here is our walk down the hill?
As we were entering Epernay we stopped by a cafe. Before we could enter a man asked if we were on the Saint Jacques de Chemin. Yes we said. He wanted you to buy us a drink. Okay. Well we had a conversation when we left Ternuezen about how long it would take before someone bought us a meal or a drink. 500 kms…not quite 500 miles.
